New here and in need of help
I own a 2000 dodge durango. I love the truck. So the issue i have is that it shifts but after a while of driving it doesnt wanna continue to shift. There is no check engine light on the dash. Has transmission fluid just cant figure out the problem.
Recheck fluid level in neutral. Checking in park gives an artificially high reading.
Get the engine/trans nice and warm, to the point where it starts to act up. Crawl under it, and disconnect the 8 pin harness from the trans, it's about halfway back on the drivers side. Kinda a pain to get too...... bring your arm with three elbows..... With that harness unplugged, go for a drive. Your trans won't have ANY automatic function. None. Zero. So, start in first, and shift up/down as required. You won't have O/D, or TCC either, so keep it below 55.
If the trans shifts into the gear you tell it, when you tell it to, its just an electronics problem, is can be a driveway fix. (replace electronics, change fluid and filter, adjust bands while you are in there.) If it doesn't, it's rebuild time.
