Looking at a used Durango
The wife and I are looking for an inexpensive runaround vehicle and I found a 2001 Durango with a 4.7L that has 144k miles on it. I have tons of experience with the 318/360 and the hemi, I have not done anything with the 4.7. Can anyone lend me some advice on issues that the 4.7L may have. Should I even consider this motor? I had a 1999 Dakota with a 318 that I absolutely loved and a 2001 Dakota with the 360 that got terrible mileage but at least I knew the motor. Thanks
4.7 is a decent motor. Just make sure it was never overheated (if possible). They don’t like it when they are overheated. Proper maintenance is the key. If it’s been maintained, it will last a long time.
