Replace Camshaft Sensor Wiring - NO BUS FIX!
Hi all! I have had the dreaded NO BUS!!!!!!!! Issue with my Durango. Went through the same rigmarole as many of you. Even had a mechanic say it was my CTM. Finally, I discovered the problem myself.
The wiring to my Camshaft Sensor (CMP) was damaged, and the plug itself was loose. I saw a bit of exposed wire.
My truck had been starting, then would stall out and / or not start later. I diagnosed the problem by reaching under the passenger tire (My fender flare is off currently) and wiggling the plug with the key on.
BAM!
Fuel pump starts, truck starts, and I'm a happy camper.
That brings me to the topic of this post. I purchased a new CMP connector from RockAuto. It has the connector itself, and 6 wires, two of what I'm guessing is heat shrink tubing, and several metal pieces. I don't know if I can link here, but go to Rock Auto and search 2002 Durango 4.7, Camshaft Position Sensor Connector and you can see all the pieces I listed.
My question is, how do I go about installing this? My guess so far is:

- Disconnect the battery
- Cut the old connector down to the closest section of good wire, and splice the wire for the new connector to the old. Cover with the heat shrink tubing
- Attach the wire to the connector using the attached terminals, then plug it all back up.
