2001-2003 Dakota/Durango needles
Incase anyone is wondering about the needles, on the 1st gen (facelifted) 01-03 models, you CAN use needles designed for the 2007-2013 model years of the Silverado, Suburban, and Tahoe.
The main needles (MPH and RPM) are about as plug and play as it gets. They will continue to be accurate as well.
The issue is the side needles. The durango's needles have a stopper nibby on the underside to make sure the needles do not swing too far one way. In order for the 07-13 tahoe needles to work, you will need to drill in a very very fine hole, and glue in a straight fragment of a paperclip to act as the stopper nibby.
I will show you a before and after of the new needles
This is the before. Notice the needles are not all the way lit up due to the defective method of manufacturing that sadly occurs on all 01-03 durango/dakotas.
These are the new ones. They are constructed to have a full light output across the entire needle. The side needles have not been replaced yet
In conclusion, I would strongly recommend a set of new needles, at least the main ones, along with a red LED dash kit for maximum visibility of the needles. I would also recommend glow gauges.

I replaced the upper 2 needles with the modernized ones and left the 2 lower ones alone because the 2 lower ones have always been brighter than the upper ones so it makes more sense to have as equal of lighting as possible. I'll post a picture later
