Default Unusual transmission issues

I am new here so hello everyone, I own a 02 Durango with the 5.9L and I'm having an issue with my transmission that I believe to be so unique because I have not found anyone else with it. So here it is. When turning on the car reverse works great, shift into drive and it uses 2nd in place of first. If I shift into 1st it will engage but I'd have to put it in drive to get to 3rd, once I'm driving it won't shift to 4th, unless I put it in neutral and shut off the car and turn it back on. (That also fixes the 1st gear issue).

If any of you have any idea what causes this please let me know I've spent a good 700 dollars trying to figure it out.

EDIT: I already read the sticky and I did not see this issue on there.

500 was spent on a local transmission repair shop a bit over a year ago. Which fixed the issue until recently (they had a 1 year warranty on their fix). And the rest was spent by me fixing things google searches told me to fix.

I replaced the Cruze control button, the solenoids, and some electrical work.

Well, with that said I would first ask the shop what they did. It's probably the same thing. Or related closely to whatever they did.

I should've specified that I did try that but they told me they had changed owner ship and that the documentation of the job done on my vehicle was no longer there with them but with the previous owner and they dont have contact with that person anymore.

I would suspect governor pressure solenoid/sensor issues. Easy enough to change. Be sure and get the borg warner heavy duty set.
