Engine troubles
Okay guys so here's my problem I did a complete head gasket set to my 98 durango 318. And clean every part I touched. My problem is now that I have it back together it's just one thing after another. At first I couldn't get the engine to start so I turned the distributor around the other way and it started. Then it would misfire. Hesitate. And idle really really badly along with white smoke coming from the back side of the engine(by the distributor), eventually it wouldn't start back so I traced it down and found out that somehow my brand new alternator got shorted out and i just now replaced. Now the damn truck will still not start along with the smoke coming from the back of the engine. Also when it was running as soon as I poured water in my radiator it would immediately leak into my oil along with coming out of the intake manifold but I just put on all new gaskets. I'm really getting frustrated. Someone please assist me. MY MAIN GOAL IS TO STOP... 1. The rough idle. 2. The smoke. 3. The water leaking internally and externally. And opinions or ideas are greatly appreciated. I've sunk so much money into the truck and its hasn't drove in 3 months...

You are going to need to tear it down again, and see what you missed. Water coming out the intake is a VERY bad sign. Water in the oil isn't good either...... Did you have the timing cover off as well??

No I need touched the timing cover I simply just did all gaskets (besides timing cover). I have to drill and tap the 2 from intake bolts they snapped think that could be the problem?

Any of the broken bolts left sticking out of the head??

If water is getting in the oil, it's very likely a HG leak. Did you have the heads resurfaced? They may be warped. You can find out for sure with a block tester, which you can rent from the auto parts store and should be free once you return it, but it really sounds like it, without even trying. And.... water getting in oil the means water in the cylinder which results in misfiring and smoke.
