Check engine light - ignition key
My Durango has had difficulty with a check engine light didn't sister come on and it's cost me thousands for mechanic to try to trace down the problem. About a month ago I was unable to shift my truck into a gear. I tried rocking it back and forth with no success. Finally I applied some force and was able to get it to go into gear. The check engine light hasn't come on since. The key likes to fall out and that's after a locksmith tended to it without me present. I was in the hospital with my daughter who was fighting cancer at the time. So there's the question. Can a faulty ignition / Security Services cause the check engine light to come on?
The old girl is been good to me. She's got new tires on her and she passed Smog on her own this year. I found out just how much I was getting screwed by the shop up here that was charging me a hundred and twenty bucks each time to do a smog when I only paid $45 off the mountain today. But at least it passed with no hassle this year. I hope to get rid of it within two years. With a child with brain cancer I've had to make due. But she's tired and old and doesn't like to make the drive from 800 feet above sea level to 6500 feet above sea level especially on warm days. Thanks for the reply.
