FINALLY got around to upgrading the stereo in Red. I was at Fry's in Roseville, CA and found a Blaupunkt system including backup camera on sale for $149...but Fry's price matches...even walmart.com so I got the set for $117 https://www.frys.com/product/1004618...romSearch=true
I also made and installed a GPS mount (used mainly for a heads up display) and installed a "special" horn for when slow moving ID10T's and vehicles are in the way: https://www.boomblasters.com/product...unds-car-horn/. You can see the little red button that triggers it in the picture below: See the little red button? It unleashes 110db of Godzilla roar on the unsuspecting public
I will most likely end up swapping out the smaller TomTom XL with the new 6" one once the holiday sales hit, but for now will test with this one
I also ended up upgrading my antenna...the stock one really sucked with the new head unit....
The dash kit made it really pretty easy to put the double din radio in...it just took a bit more finess cutting when going back together to get it to fit cleanly...
If any one has a question on the audio upgrade let me know I might have the answer
Looks like a clean install. What all did you have to trim get it to fit nicely? I am hoping my next upgrade will be the stereo system, but I don't want the dash popped out.

There was quite a bit of trimming needed...thankfully the Metra Kit had a REALLY good template to go on...If you just take your time and keep test fitting it it should go fine. I had to finesse the top of the deck so the CD/DVD ejector slot would not hang on the dash.
When I find the head unit I want for my 2001, I will be sure to take progress pics

Awesome, I will make sure to look for that install kit then.
