Default Compatible transmissions for the 4.7 to replace the 45 rfe

I'm interested in knowing what transmissions will bolt up to the 4.7 and work, or if there are any. I read about the 45 rfe to the 545 rfe being a simple tcm swap, but I'm hoping I can find a torque-ier transmission and more than likely a better transfer case, thank you for the help

There might be others like the 65rfe that bolt up but good luck getting the electronics to work. Get a 45rfe built and call it good. And yes the 45rfe and 545rfe are identical, it's just programming and how it utilizes all 6 (yep, it's really a 6 speed, but doesn't use them all sequentially) of it's gears.

Far as I know and have read, the 545RFE is a pretty strong unit. I've got 317K on mine and never had a peep out of it. Still shifts like it's reading my mind. It probably helps that I've got the tow pkg which includes the heavy duty cooling (external cooler) and I installed a drain plug in the pan, so I drain it every 25K or so.

170k on mine but the 3 times I have had the pan off there was a LOT of material in the bottom of the pan. Still shifts properly but I hesitate to tow with it.
