Default New Prop Drive Shaft Slinging Grease from Cap

Just installed a new prop drive shaft on an 03 Durango R/T. This is the drive shaft that connects from the NV 244 to the front differential. These are notorious for cracked boots that sling grease and blow out eventually. The new one I installed is flinging grease from the front cap. Figured I must have not set into the receiver correctly, so uninstalled and repacked it again. Same problem. I have the bolts firmly down in place but on the second test, still splattering (burgundy grease in photo).

That's a different setup than my 99, but looks similar to the CV flanges on another of my vehicles. That looks more like it's coming from that silver end cap rather than a boot. Not sure if it's the same there, but on my 928 there is a gasket between that silver end cap and the housing of the cv.

This sort of shows what I'm talking about. The cap (left) is separated from the joint (right).

Yeah the leak is coming from the weep holes from the silver cap where the cap meets the round rusty holder. Could be excess grease. I also took a look at the original install I did and I noticed that when I reinstalled it, I put the brackets (three in total) in a slightly different location. So in my photo above the bracket should have been by the tongue. Putting back to the exact location seems to have stopped the leaking or could be that I put a thicker grease when I added more after retaking it out. I don't know if made a difference but seems to be fixed now. Maybe it has something to do with the pressure and how it spread.

Here is the original location and oem.

I think I see your gasket scrunched down in that grease, or it's missing. You probably didn't align it with the holes. It needs to be laying flat on the metal. Also, you should hear your C Ring "click" when you put it on. If you bought a cheap one, don't expect it to last long.
