Hi I need some help plz, my moms trucks transmission is acting weird and idk what to do...
when I put it in drive, and give it gas, it wants to move forward a inch or 2 but just revs high and doesn't move , it rocks forward but stops, and no reverse, it shifts into all gears but doesn't move, trans fluid is clean but smells weird, I dont get any codes or check engine light, so I'm lost plz help 98 dodge Durango 4x4 5.9l

 

Unplug the 8 pin connector on the drivers side of the trans, about halfway back. This disables all the electronics in the trans, so, no automatic function whatsoever. That means you need to start in first gear, and shift manually (up and down...) as appropriate. You won't have TCC or O/D either.... If the trans goes into the gear you tell it to, when you tell it to, just need to change the governor pressure sensor and solenoid. If it doesn't, need to drop the pan anyway, and see what you find, but, in that event, it's likely rebuild time.
