air bag light and chime keep coming on
We've got a 2003 Durango.
My wife was driving it and the airbag warning light came on intermitently.
My first thought was the clock spring, but her cruise, and horn still worked.
I went ahead and replaced it anyway, to no avail.
I've tried a couple different code scanners, but they only do driveability codes. Not SRS codes.
Dealer is booked out for a couple weeks.
Took it to a local Auto Electric shop, and he brought his scanner out and read the codes. His was way better than mine, or my friends.
It pointed to the drivers seatbelt retractor.
Took the panels off, and checked out the wiring, and it all apears to be in good shape, with no pinched spots, at least as far under the dash as I could trace it.
Looked around online for a replacement seatbelt assembly, and it appears they aren't available anywhere but junkyards. Really not crazy about buying seatbelts from a junkyard.
Anyone here have any sources?
Any other thoughts on what it might be?
I am not strong when it comes to electronics, but I assume he two wires going to the retractor just have to make a complete circuit? If I splice a pin thru both, will it close the circuit and trick the computer? or at least confirm there is something wrong in the retractor mechanism?

I don't remember the actual code number. He just said it was drivers side seatbelt retractor.
I've been driving it for the last couple weeks, and it hadn't come on during my short drive to and from work.
I drove it to the next town over, and it didn't come on till I was almost back to town. (abut 40 miles)
I would think if the seatbelt retractor was bad, it would be on, and stay on.
