1st Gen Durango 1998 - 2003 Durango's

2002 Durango starts but stall out immediately even with gas pedal depressed!!

Default 2002 Durango starts but stall out immediately even with gas pedal depressed!!

Hey fellas this is my first post I e been here reading forever but I just joined today. So my wife’s 02 Durango won’t stay running and of course quite conveniently I’m currently stuck in a freakin Walmart parking lot. Of course because u know it’s so easy being here. Fml and my wife is stuck at work. Fml. I’m beyond pissed and out of answers. Any help is welcomed big time. Thanks my name is AJ btw

I would check your cam shaft position sensor and also check your idle air control valve.

What engine do you have in the Durango? If it has a 4.7L this somewhat sounds like what happened to my '00 and '01 Durango's. The '01of mine sounds like what your '02 is doing. In my case, the car overhead on my wife's way home. Got it towed and limped it to the concrete in front of the garage but it was a STRUGGLE to say the least. It would kinda run like crap only if you kept your foot in it. Long story short turned out to be a dropped valve seat in cylinder #8. Are you seeing any check engine light on the dash? If so, cycle the key 3x to pull the codes.
