Hello form members I have a 2001 Dodge Durango 4.7 SLT four-wheel drive with approximately 200,000 MI
The following describes the recent working issues leading up to the event perhaps some relevant some not there was an engine change approximately a month ago. In the recent days a vibration developed which I tend to believe was the result of a torque converter bolt being lost or not installed before the transmission issue there was a small barely noticeable clunk when I started it which resulted in the starter motor failing as a result of the ground connection being broken between the connection and the the motor upon replacing the starter is when I discovered the bolt missing from the torque converter which I replaced promptly and then installed the starter which by the way would have been a rebuilt starter from AutoZone and I'd like to comment on the starter motor and the connection for the ground to the motor whether it is a the manufacturer who designed this solenoid starter I find it rather disappointing by the workmanship are design of it with just a small piece of solder making the connection but that's besides the point the starter was replaced the day before well after this the vibration had subsided somewhat less than what it had been I'd say bye 60% that's vibration.
The engine stalled out of second gear with throttle at 50 percent luckily I was on top of an overpass so I took it out of gear in the neutral while coasting down the overpass attempting to start it in neutral to maybe three times making it into a parking lot at that point I put it in park attempted to start it and it seemed like all like the battery was dead kind of and then I turned to the key off and move the keys went to start it again and started up fine although there was no engagement of the transmission no noise as well when it started and when it's spelled out.
So I'm left with the conclusion of the transmission relay which I changed out in the parking lot to no avail as well checking the throttle cable by removing the cable from the transmission linkage starting the vehicle in neutral and switching the linkage through the gears again to know about and had it towed home. That tends to lead me to believe that it is more than likely a fuel pump gear failure or a torque converter failure. Could I have missed something along the line.?
*The further notes: the transmission fluid level has been had been at the top of the lower two dots on the dipstick . That normal operating temperature. Also the front drive shaft for the four-wheel drive hasn't had been removed.
After the engine install it was uninstalled for replacement I just hadn't gotten to it

Reason: Further information
As far as the transmission. You could have lost all the bolts on the torque converter or the converter all together. Or the transmission filter drop into the pan causing no forward or reverse gears. Does the engine start and stays Idling?

I did replace the missing bolt for the torque converter.as it was still perfectly aligned.
The engine runs an idles stay s running
Surprising ly well.
Now I cleared the codes . as it Had a p108 showing .which had been present for quotes while.
After resetting The P0700 came up. Being the only code showing.
As far as the filter dropping out.how common could that be? The fluid is clean like new from the previous owner. As he had claimed all the f fluids had been changed which they appeared to have been he also claims he was a Dodge Chrysler dealer mechanic I don't know how true that is but he did dump a lot of money and parts into that thing before I bought it is prior work on the rest of the vehicle seems seems correct the only thing I came across that was kind of funny was a zip tie on the ground for the starter holding it in place cuz of the tablet been broken.
But yeah I guess with the the fluid haven'ing been changed out I guess it warrants pulling the pan and seeing if the filters in place
Also I bought two replacement speed sensors and the fluid pressure actuator switch could any two or three of those cause the transmission malfunction that I have if they were to go out

As it sits. ". " Clean pan .minimal residue on mag. Pan damage front drivers side from front axle dislodging .on account of diff to engine mount loose bolts One month prior .action taken - remount bolts .front drive axle removed. Patched pun hole leak on pan(see image) Added I at of atf4. again same day 30 days out .fluid level at slightly above the two lower dots(operating temp)
Thinking that chipped paint went somewhere? Also went it gave out I was accelerating from a stop going up an over pass.
outta 2nd
What Bout the pcm? The p 700 didn't show until after I reset it.Thought that was kinda strange.

If you don't see any metal piece's and the filters are in place and sealing. I would say the torque converter and pump gave out. P0700 is just to kick the lamp on. You need to have a hard fault like P0944 loss of prime code.
