Likewise. I installed a drain plug in the transmission pan and drain that every 25K. Oil is full syn and gets changed every 7.5K. The 4.7 gets a lot of bad press, mostly from folks who've never owned one, but I love this engine.

Last year I had the valve covers off because a lifter froze up and ejected a rocker. That was the first "major" issue in over 300K. Replaced all lifters, valve springs, valve stem seals and valve cover gaskets. Now it doesn't use any oil between changes. How many miles ya got?

I agree the 4.7 is underrated for sure. Mine only has around 171,000, I'm retired Air Force and lived on base for many years, ended up not putting a ton of miles on it. plus since 2013 I have a 2013 Challenger R/T that shares driving duties with the Durango. Hell my Challenger does not even have 30,000 on it yet.
