Need ignition advice bad!
Son of a B.
I think my coil just took a crap which may explain a misfire problem I was having on cylinder5.
Question. Can I test to see if my coil is firing while installed by connecting a plug lead and extra plug directly to the coil, cranking and looking for a spark? I have removed a plug boot and put a spare loose plug in it, cranked and no spark. Can I do the same with the coil directly? Otherwise how do I go about checking the coil?
Also would there be any "fancy computer" reason why the engine might not be allowing the coil to send energy? God dammit things were so much easier when engines didn't have all this computer crap on them.[:'(]

Forgot to mention....she won't fire at all now since I pulled and replaced all the plug/coil wires today. I'm as 100% sure their on properly as a guy can be. Seems even if they were on wrong and it wouldn't start I'd still get a spark from a plug shoved in one of the leads.
I have a 5.9, but all is good now. Turns out the accel coil took a crap. The new OEM works just fine. The missing that I associated with an ignition problem turned out to be a leaking head gasket.
