Question Need Advice 2003. Durango

my transmission started shifting erratically, sometimes it will go thru all gears and into OD normally, but sometimes I have to ease up on the throttle to make it shift into 2ND and 3RD then it will go into OD, Fluid level is correct, clean just change it and the filter less than 10K ago, also adjusted the bands at that time. Do not see a vacuum modulator on it. Does it have a shift solenoid? If so is it in the pan or external? I do see a solenoid looking thing on the outside on the Pass. side of the trans. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Mike

Probably just an electronics issue. However, do the easy stuff first. Verify the TV cable moves freely, and is adjusted properly, and the return spring hasn't gone MIA. If that all looks good, replacing the governor pressure solenoid and sensor would be the next step. Get the borg warner heavy duty solenoid kit, they are under 100 bucks. Requires dropping the pan again to change 'em though. The feller on the side of the trans is likely the output speed sensor. Easy to replace, and not hideously expensive.... When I did my governor stuff, I just got a kit that included it.
