Default transmission swap understanding

Im sure this is in this forum somewhere. I have a 2000 durango with the 5.9 and awd tranfer case. I have a chance to buy a 2001 with the 5.9 and 4wd transmission transfer case. My durango has a bad engine and the 2001 has a bad transmission. Im assuming I just leave the transfer cases and swap transmissions. I have read on here the neutral switch may cause some issues. Any input appreciated.

I'm a little confused by your question. You have a 2000 Durango, you're looking to buy a 2001 Durango? I would assume you were looking to keep your 2000 on the road but as I read it I feel you want to get the 2001 on the road? As I read it just swapping the motor from the 2001 into the 2000 would be easiest and just labor involved. If you're looking to put your 2000 transmission into the 2001 then there might be a few more issues. I'm not as familiar with the AWD drive setup of a Durango. There could possibly be transfer case input differences but I'm not for sure, you would want to keep your transfer cases in their respective vehicles, again there could be more differences whether or not the 2001 is indeed another Durango or a Ram truck

Transmissions will be the same. Though, I am not sure what year they want to the five wire trans range sensor.....
