She's got a quarter of a million miles, any ideas on what trans to replace the stock? With that many miles...

Have yours rebuilt? Probably 44 or 46RE.... Depending on year, of course....

I'd find a good place local to you that can rebuild yours. Beyond soft parts, like clutches, seals, thrust washers, you want to make sure they're gonna go through and check for wear to hard parts, set tolerances back up properly, etc. All sensors and solenoids on the valve body should be replaced too. Unless something broke hopefully the only hard parts you should have to replace are the sun shell and all the od unit snap rings. Ask them what supplier they get parts from too, hopefully someplace reputable like transtar and not Chinese garbage.
