Default 2000 dodge Durango 4.7 awd trouble

I have a 2000 dodge Durango 4.7 awd with the manual selector in the floor. The other day my daughter was driving it and said it was driving fine. She stopped at a red light and when the light turned green the vehicle wouldn’t move in any gear. When I went to get it with a trailer I was able to put it in 4 hi and it drove on the trailer. I also drove it to see if the transmission would change gears and it changed through all the gears normally. Does anyone have any idea of what the problem could be? Seems to me like it couldn’t be the transmission or transfer case considering everything works fine in 4 hi and 4 lo. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Did the t-case slip into neutral? Check for slop in the shift linkage to it.

I crawled under and checked and the linkage seems tight. I’m trying to do research on the transfer case and how the awd system works but can’t find much information on it at all. I’m thinking I need to replace or rebuild the case itself. I just dont want to do all that and it be something really simple

Not sure on that..... probably has a differerntial in there that you lock when shifting into some variety of 4x4.... Might try pulling the fill and drain plugs, (fill plug first, to make sure you CAN get it out....) see what the fluid looks like.
