2002 Durango 4.7 SLT whining under load
Hey all, I recently noticed that my engine began to whine while under steering load. Had the power steering pump replaced as the old one (assuming it was the one installed upon assembly) was covered in oil that was leaking from the cap and was what I thought was the source of the whine. Upon replacement it sounds like I have a whipple under the hood. Any steering load while on the throttle now whines exponentially louder than it did before. Just need some advice, my next course of action was to replace the serpentine belt, as I would guess that is pretty old as well. I'm not such a seasoned mechanic, so any suggestions or advice would be welcome. My durango is breaking necks in all of the wrong ways.

Shoulda changed the belt with the pump.....
I went through FOUR power steering pumps on my daughters car, before I got one I could live with. First two didn't work at all.... no pressure. Next one worked, but, whined to beat the band. The fourth one didn't whine as bad, and it actually had power steering, so I left it at that. Part quality has declined DRAMATICALLY in the last few years..... A new pump shouldn't whine AT ALL.
