Default MAP Sensor Code / I’m Stumped

01 Durango
147k miles
4.7L V8

im getting a P0108 MAP Code and can’t idle. Have to keep on the gas or it stalls, even get sputtering when accelerating.

the confusing part is… this all happens randomly but not consistently. Sometimes, it drives/idles fine and in those times the engine light isn’t on.

then, for no consistently identifiable reason it all starts. Seems to be worse/more frequent when gas dips to/under 1/4 tank.

Also, I just changed the spark plugs out a few days ago… hadn’t had ANY issues for 3-4 days straight (it was at least daily before) but now today it started again. Gas just under 1/2 tank, and issues not as pronounced/severe as before but all the same symptoms..

ANY ideas you guys have Im all ears bc I’ve looked everywhere and tried all I can think of.

thank you!

Where does the map get its vacuum signal from? If there is a short hose, or grommet, time to check it, and make sure it ain't cracked/dry rotted. Might just be a failing sensor too.

Thanks for Replying!

A little more info: when I replaced the Spark Plugs, I changed out 4 of the 8 and things ran better. This weekend I did the other 4 and now they’re way worse.

Ill check the MAP Sensor connections… have a lot of dried/cracked housings/hoses so definitely possible.

i also noticed one of the connectors for the ignition coils has some exposed wires… doubt it’s related but getting that eliminated too.

Can you swap the sensors from one cylinder to the other , take the battery lead off for a bit , re connect then that should clear the stored code , then see if the fault code transfers to the other cylinder , if it does you know that it is the map sensor at fault . If it doesn't you will need to check for 5 volt supply and earth on the relevant connector pins on the map sensor plug.
