Default No reverse.

When I attempt to put my 00 durango 5.9 r/t into reverse from the park position it jumps right into drive. There is nothing inbetween park and drive the 1st click from park puts it into drive. Does anyone kn̈ow why this would be happening? Im just coming up on 200k and have not had any problems with the transmission until now. Thanks for any ideas.Im at a loss as to what it migĥt be. Happy Easter to all!

Probably the band strut fell out..... Drop the trans pan, see what you find.

Probably not so lucky. You could try wiggling the shifter around reverse, and see if anything happens....

Default No reverse

Thanks Hey You. If it was a reverse strut that fell off or similar is that something I can just put back on? Or does it sound like I'm looking at a rebuild transmission at this point?

If it fell out, that implies the band is pretty worn, but, you *might* be able to just reinstall it, readjust the band, and run it for a while yet.
