I can see inside the intake is soaked with oil but is there any chance this could be a bad pcv valve? I'm digging into it now

 

Well I took off the plenum, what a dirty b*tch! snapped the front drivers side bolt off. That should be fun to get out... From what I can see the plenum gasket looks to be intact from the outside. I sure hope I didn't open up this can of worms for no reason and it was just a pcv valve or something

 

If anyone cares half the bolts were loose and half were tight. The actual gasket was still in place and in one piece but is petrified

 

I have the same situation going on and i have so much carbon/oilbreakdown in the motor it plugged everything up when i "washed out" the engine with diesel and seafoam and it is the plenum it looses vacume so bad i changed the brake booster and all the vac lines . Hows ur oil pressure?

 

To get the busted bolt out, clean around the base REALLY well, and soak it with some variety of penetrating lube. (I like PB Blaster....) Let that soak in for an hour or so, the grab the bolt with vice-grips, tap on the end of the bolt with a hammer, while just trying to get the bolt to wiggle a little bit. Once it starts to wiggle, you can likely thread it the rest of the way out.

 

I actually did that a couple of days ago and was able to get it loose and out. Didn't want to have to drill it out! It's all back together. When I was in there I noticed a leak at the thermostat and the bypass hose was bulged so I replaced those as well. Just have to flush the old coolant out and refill and fire her up today. Hopefully I get her back together properly. I just bought this thing for a summer tow rig for the ski boat
