Default So shocked how well thought out factory hitch was designed.

2000 Durango SLT Plus factory installed trailer hitch design actually impressed me with how they designed it for future ability to remove and reinstall etc.
I was so dreading having to remove the hitch Member so I could remove the Left Rear shackle bolt ,to my shock it was probably the fastest and well designed ( As far as thinking about Mechanics and DIY's as all the Bolts and nuts were placed in locations where they are easily accessed with a 1/2 Impact gun with only 1 needed in short extension and not one of them need any backing wrenches as they were all bult with special tabs that not only helped to locate them but made it so they could not sin freely ( The tabs were also much heavier in Metal thickness and quality then I had seen before.
There were 8 bolts/nut locations and one large wiring connection
2 nuts on each side frame rail 1/2 way between bumper and rear axle (Vertical orientation) (4 total)
1 bolt on each side of bracket threaded towards rear bumper (horizontal orientation) (2 Total)
1 Nut on each side in close proximity to the above mentioned bolts (Vertical orientation) (2 Total)
Which makes 8 all together and only took maybe 1 min to min 1/2 to remove all of the bolts and lower bracket to the ground.
One of the times I am so glad I was incorrect on the complication of removing the item.
