Problem with fuel pumps 2002 Durango.....
Hello Everyone looking for some advice. I have replaced my fuel pump after the original failed at around 200K with 3 new fuel pumps all over the last 3 months.
Duralast, Delphi, and a cheaper pump which was the only one they had in stock from AutoZone in Wake Forest, NC at the time. They ranged in price from 325 - 225 with the Delphi being the most expensive.
This to date has caused me 425 dollars in towing bills.
Last night ran to the store got out, got my stuff, tried to start the truck and it would not start. Frustrated I called a friend to pick me up and take me home.
The next day I go back thinking it will not start, turn the key and it starts immediately. But I can hear a very loud high pitch screeching sound coming from the full pump. So loud I could hear it at 55 when driving it. So great another failed pump.
So what I need help with recommendations (preferably not made in China) that I can put in my Durango with some confidence.

The dirt cheap pumps seldom last very long...... and I won't even bother to install them. The delphi *should* have been a quality part..... Strange that it should fail so quickly..... Is the tank itself clean?? Supposedly, chunky stuff can't get to the pump.... but, that's only *supposedly*. What actually happens is anyones guess.
If the failures are sudden, I would also make sure to verify the ground side of the circuit is good. On my 98 Ram, I replaced three pumps I didn't need to, as they weren't actually the problem...... It was a rusted out ground wire making intermittent contact..... and there were a bunch of ground wires there as well. (for me, it was G101, which is just in front of the battery, down on the fender well....) Strangely enough, once I had them all fixed, other things started working as well......

What about Spectra Fuel Pumps out of Canada (engineer in Canada and 2 MFG Locations in Canada. One in Taiwan.)
No MFG in China.
Any thoughts?
I hear you HeyYou about the Delphi Fuel Pump ($325). I expect it to last as long as the original but what is was doing what weird once my mechanic figured it out.
It was delivering 115 PSI to the fuel rail and the car would not start because the pressure was to high. The fuel gage was inaccurate as well with it only reading correct some of the time.
