ignition switch
I've got another problem with my '01 Durango. The ignition switch has locked up again. It happened just outside of warranty a couple of years back and I was told that this is a typical "dodge problem". It has happened again. A week or so ago I removed the column trim pieces and injected some graphite into the starter switch cylinder and jiggled the key a bit and it turned. I didn't have another problem with it until tonight. It is locked up tight. Is there a trick to this that I don't know about? I've tried moving the sterring wheel, adjusting the tilt on the column and fudging with the shift, nothing. Is this a do it yourself fix or am I going to have to have it towed to the delaership and plunk down another 441.00 for a new switch?
Please help.
Please help.
Have you tried another key or maybe a new one?
As I understand it, to rreplace the ignition switch or cylinder you have to be able to turn it and I'm not sure of what kind of secret they use at the dealer.
