Tire question
Hello everyone. One of my friends are selling his tires off his truck, he has 285/75/16's with 6K miles. My durango has 265/70/16's, he just went to pay for his new tires and get them shipped in, and they said they wouldn't fit on my durango b/c they would rub. The diameter is only about a 2.2 inch difference, and the sidewall is 1.1 inches, so looking at this, then they won't rub too bad as long as I don't turn my wheels all the way to the side. Right?
Thanks for the help in advance.
Thanks for the help in advance.
I was talking to someone else about this on another post but now i cant find it. anyway, the point i was getting at was if you want to put those on you will have to deal with a little rubbing. you'll most definetly have to turn your wheel all the way at some point or another. i would see if you could mount a tire and see exactly how much it is goin to rub, if you dont like it then dont buy them. I bought some 18's with tires already on them for my dakota and the tires are just a touch to big. had to hammer in the corner of my fenders to stop the most of it but now they just rub a little on sharp turns in the inside fender well. those tires arent cheap so im just gonna wear them out and but the right size. hope that helps!
I have 22" 305/40 series Toyos on my truck and I have no rubbing at all. I know since my tires are "technically" low profile, it is a little different but my wheels are much bigger and the tire is wider so I don't forsee any problems with your new setup. The only way to be for sure is to take 15 minutes and slap them on there and see what happens!
Yea, that's what the guys that are selling my friend new tires said. It's a 4X4 tire place, so I think they were talking about tires with side bite on them, but these new tires don't have that side bite. Thanks guys for all your help, I'll get some pics on here when I get them on, they should be on the truck on wed. And hopefully my CB radio will be in then also. Later.
