I am looking at a 1999 Dodge Durango with the 5.2l engine, and 90k miles on it, the guy said he would sell it to us for $6500. I'm not sure on how durango's are for reliability, and what I should look out for with the vehicle as far as potential problems with it... I was looking online at user reviews, and it seemed like this has various problems as you get into the higher mileage....

 

They can be a great vehicle. Stay away from the 4.7.
Transmission problems will be the first and biggest problem. It all depends on maintenance on the vehicle. definitely get a CARFAX report. More than 2 owners and I would stay away. The 5.2 is a good engine as well as the 5.9 as ours is.
Both my Dodges are meticuolously maintained and all work is logged.
As with any used vehicle, you may be buying someone elses headaches.
I'd look for something in the 40-50,000 range.

 

You should be able to take at least $500 off that price...if they don't..go somewhere else. I bought mine with just over 100K on it for $5400 and the only thing wrong with it was a leaking freeze plug.
