Default New Owner

Hey everyone! Just bought a 2001 Durango R/T, one owner, with 66,000 on her. Clean inside and out. I'm coming over from the diesel truck scene. One of the first things we'd do over there was upgrade air intakes and let'em breath. I'll assume it goes the same here. Anyone have the Jet chip? Notice that big of a difference? Also, the previous owner used premium and I know it calls for premium, but does anyone out there run mid-grade gas? Premium is around $3.15 here. Kinda pricey for a college student. Also, I've heard some about the ball joints being bad? Any truth to this? Was there a recall on them? Thanks in advance for all the info!

hey man congrats on the D. it hope it serves you as mine has me. And yup open up that Engine and let it breathe. and as for a chip...go fer it too. i had one but am getting the ecm programmed this week if all goes as planned. as for the gas i tried the mid grade and it just dont run right. and yes there is a ball joint recall...you need to contact you local dealer with your VIN number to see if you need the recall. Welcome to the forum where ya located?

I got ahold of the owner earlier this evening, and he's already had it in the shop for the ball joint recall. Reprogramming ecm's in diesel trucks isn't that expensive, is it the same for these vehicles? What's the tallest and widest tire that I could mount on the stock 17's?

Does my truck need to run premium? I didn't see that in the owners manual. Is it just on the R/T because I have the SLT 5.9L
