Power Window/Lock electrical Problem - FIXED!
I have a 2000 SLT. Saturday my rear left window stopped working. It went half way down and wouldn't come back up. Both the main console switch and the door switch would continue to lower the window but not raise it. Then it stopped working completely. I've had issues with the door before where the lock wouldn't completely unlock as well.
Figuring the motor/regulator unit was shot I purchase a new one from Dodge ($128). Plugged it in and the window switch ran it, but only in one direction again (down), and wouldn't run the old unit. So I took out the old and put in the new thinking I may have foudn the problem, by the way the new unit doesn't fit like the old. The motor is oriented in the other direction and where I used to have 3 screws holding the unit in, I only have 1 that I had to tweak to fit??? I hate replacement parts.
So with the unit in and hooked up it no longer works at all! Back to square one. Now to make things worse, it appears my driver console (locks/windows etc) panel may be going out. It will lock the doors, but only sometime unlock them. The passenger side switch works like a charm. Could the main console be interfering with the back power window?
I just plain need some direction and help at this point. I own two old VW's and have torn them down and rebuilt both, so Im familiar and handy with cars, just not anything this new. I'd tear out other panels and see how other items were working but its just not as easy with these new cars and all their motorized garbage. Thanks.

OK, here is an update. I found some info on the CTM, Central Timing module, as maybe being the culprate but couldn't find it. While playing with items again I powered the car and am now finding the entire drivers control panel (door lock, windows, window lock unit in the door) seems to be malfunctioning. I lowered the drivers window then it got stuck too! Luckily clicking the button many times it eventually went up, but the door locks and all the windows seem flaky now from that panel. The right rear window won't respond from the unit, but at the door it works. Unfortunatley Im stuck in Wyoming right now without my manual, can somebody check the wiring diagram for me and see how this panel is connected to the windows? I hate to take the driver door panel off too, but I may need to if I want to get to that unit and play with it.
Well, lack of help on this forum, thats for sure. Maybe everyone's out to lunch or maybe I'm just spoiled from my VW forum where 10 people fight over trying get you the right answer. Either way it helped writing it out here, I will probably stick around and try to help people out and make this a better and more usefull forum by answering as many questions as I can.
Anyway back to the window... I pulled the new motor/regulator and checked the part numbers, came to find out that the part I got was the wrong part packaged in the right part number box. It was the correct type of part, but apparently Durango's had some differences between the rams in or around 2000. The part number on the original part ended in 495 AM which meant I needed replacement part 325 AC. I got a box listed 325 AC but it had in it part 495 AM!!! This is when I said, "What the Hell?". Answer is this, if you have a 2000 with a motor regulator setup listed as 495 AM you need 325 AC, but if your part is 495 AH then you need 495 AM! Confusing huh. Here you'd all thing if you had part number X you'd replace it with part number X, Wrong!
While determining I had the wrong part ALL my windows and door locks had stopped working. I ended up cutting off the rubber sleeve on the wire bundle between the front door and the body on the drivers door, but couldn't find a broken wire there. I did this because I found out all power first goes to the drivers console and then back out to all other windows and doors, so if thats broken then nothing will work. When I didn't find anything there I decided to take off the drivers door panel and VOILA!!! I found my problem. The plug onto the main console had finally completely fallen off. There is a little red tab you slide perpendicular to the plug when its been pushed on all the way. In the case of mine it hadn't which allowed the plug to finally fall off completely. So I plugged it back together and everything worked including my OLD motor/regulator setup!!! So now I have a part I need to return, but a working Durango again. I think the console itself my be flakey though so I may eventually purchase one of those.
Tip: I read a few threads where people said they broke off the funny tabs holding their door on. I know, I did the same thing on my first panel, but I came to find out all you need to do is remove all the screws in the pane. (two on the bottom, one small one on the top and two large ones in the center and behind the door lever) Once the screws are out, literall just pull directly up on the panel and it will pop free. The tabs aren't hooked onto the door, literally just resting in place. Hope this helps some of you.

Read the last two paragraphs of my last thread. Geez, too lazy to read the thread. Better yet, just take your car to a mechanic if you're that lazy.
Hey Adventurewagen, Get detail in your post. I have a 2004 dodge ram that will not let me roll the windows down from the other remotes. Faulty window lock I am assuming. I can roll all windows up and down from the driverside console, but can not roll them up or down at their individual locations (passenger side, rear passenger and driver side). I hope to take the drivers side panel off sometime today and see if I am lucky enough to just have a plug that slipped off.
Thanks for your post.
Daniel

I have a 2001 dodge Durango and having problems with my passenger window and both back windows. I check the fuse under the steering wheel which was good and the fuse under the hood which is also good. The driver door control works perfect rolling down all the windows, and unlocking/locking all doors. What do you think I need to replace? And how do I do it? I need to fix asap. Thank you.

master lock switch in the drives door is engaged. This locks out the other controls (for child safety in the backseat, not sure why they included the passenger door in this).
there is a way to bypass it, the thread is in the FAQ thread at the top of the forum.
