Default Question For Someone With A 2000 Dodge Durango

I just recently acquired my Durango, and have a few questions regarding it. Firstly, when it is in park or I'm stopped at a light, it idles high - around 1000+, but when I rev it up some it'll go down to about 500. (This happens w/ and w/o the AC on).

There have been times off and on the past few days that when I go to slow down I get to about 10 mph and it jerks. I don't know if it's the tranny or the brakes. The brakes are very touchy on it.

I can't remember all the other questions I have, but my last one would be my third seat that folds down - it doesn't seem very secure. When it is in the regular position, you can almost fold the back of the seat forward - it doesn't stay still like it seems it should. The place I'm getting it from says it's normal that it needs leeway or something because it's a fold down seat. I would think if it's in the upright, locked position, for safety it shouldn't be that loose. Anyone else experience these problems or can tell me how their 2000 Duragno is?

You may need to check and possibly clean up your throttle body. Another thing to check is the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS sensor) for your idling issues.

As far as the third row seat. Mine has some leeway on it but I know I cannot fold the seat down without having to move the bottom cushion into the floor first.

No clue on the rpm's but as far as the third row falling down mine does it too for some reason dodge decided that it shouldn't lock into place. If you have someone sitting in it wearing their seatbelts you shouldn't have a problem. otherwise put it down for the extra cargo room.

ASFAR AS THE SEAT ISSUE IT APPEARS THAT WE ALL HAVE THE SAME "ISSUE"-MINE ONLY BECOMES A NON ISSUE WHEN SOMEONE IS OCCUPYING THAT SEAT

KSM79:

Idle issue could also be a dirty or defective IAC (idle air bypass control) This is mounted on the side of your throttle body.

Re the seat issue: The rear set in my 01 seems to be fine as long as you rotate the bottom portion of it back towards the upright section.

If you are not doing this, that would explain why it seems loose.

yeah it sounds like your IAC is dead or dying... swap it out. when you yank off the TB clean it real good.
