Front o2 keeps going out, CEL on again, BAD MPG
I've replaced the front o2 twice in the past 2 weeks. It's blown a day after getting it replaced. The last two times the code was coming up as system too lean, and that the o2 was bad. Now the CEL is back on, and its p0171, and im getting very bad MPG again. I haven't had it checked yet to see if the o2s bad again, but it's acting just like it did when the o2 was bad before.
Anyone know why I keep blowing the front o2? also, could my problem be somewhere else THIS time?

This is a common problem with (assuming that you have a) 2000 Durango - 4.7L, with bad power steering switch. I assume that you have about 85,000 - 95,000 miles on it. Uncouple the power steering switch NOW!
Save your O2 sensor - it's not bad.
Check your power steering switch - leaking power steering fluid into the ground (black) wire, which is also linked together with your O2 sensor. My fix was to replace the 4 wires to the front O2 sensor. All 4 wires can be located up by the air cleaner box. The O2 harness side factory connection can be reused. One has to cut the 4 wires connected (harness side) to the plastic 4 pin connector. Remove the connector and take apart. The 4 post pins come out easily. One has to open the clasp up carefully and solder new wires in place. One can fit the lead of the wire under the 'cap' of the connector pin and solder into position. You have to do a clean job - in order to slide the pin back into the connector.
Oops - my time is up. I can't get into the rest right now - but I will be back Sunday night.
