My A/C isnt kicking on??? Any ideas??????
The story goes as I was pulling a trailer a piece of the brake light wire was cut and it shorted on the vehicle. Everything from door locks to interior lights would not work properly. Found that the power locks fuse was blown, changed that and everything else worked great. This may have absolutely nothing to do with my current problem. I dont recall if it wasnt working before the blown fuse.
It seems my air conditioning clutch isnt engaging and therefore isnt kicking on. I have checked every single fuse in the vehicle and changed the relay with 4 other good ones with still no luck. If someone could please help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If you don't have any R134a in the system the low pressure sensor won't let the clutch engage.
GM's are terrible because sometimes even after you charge the system you have to "hotwire" the sensor to get the initial pressure built up. But get a manifold guage set put on your lines and see if you have a charge.

After checking each part of the A/C components, I finally found what my issue was. It was the evaporator.
I had the same symptons as you. What it looked like was that the r134 level was low and/or was leaking. I couldn't find the leak anywhere but once the system was filled, it would stop running after a few hours of running the AC.
The last test, I smelled kind of like an oily scent coming from the A/C when it was on, which pointed me to the evaporator.
Have fun ripping out the dash to fix it, If thats the problem. What a pain in the A$$ that was!
Good luck
