Sometimes on unleaded cars, you lose MPG when u gain HP, unlike desiel which usually if u gain HP you gain fuel econmy for some stupid reason, they need to go back to the 1st gen durango's cause the new ones are just fugly, an this time around make them a 8ltr desiel!

What tire size are you running. If your truck came with 32-10.5 LT15 on it and your running 235-75 LT15 then your not getting what your thinking. Look at a build sheet or your spare tire and make sure your turning the right tire ratio. If you are running a smaller size then it will appear that your getting better milage when your not.

I’ve never seen that kind of mileage come from the factory with the 5.9L. My friend did a check with a standard 6 speed and a Hemi 2006 3/4 ton Quad and only averaged 13.4 MPG and that motor will rip us apart on milage.

Something tells me your milage is off.[sm=chattypair.gif]

2002 V8 4.7liter, about 14-16 in the city, and 17-19 in the freeway.

I have a 1999 5.9 with a cold air intake and the little meter hangs around 18 on the highway with the cruise on.

I have the same 2000 5.9 slt and it gets about 13 on average driving around town and when I was the the free way last week a lot when I calculated it I have about 15 miles to the gallon.. I have intake and 3inch slow master exhuast... 10 miles to the gallon really does suck dude...

That is true J. I started babying the throttle when my overhead comp thingy told me I was getting 9.9 mpg. But sometimes I just can't help myself and I have to go fast like when a ricer pulls up next to me and has no idea the D is the most powerful suv out there. They can usually stick with me in 1st sometimes in 2nd but by the time I hit 3rd they are wishing they didn't give me a nod haha.
