plz help ABS 2000 Durango
I have a 2000 Durango RT/5.9. It just failed inspection for the rear brakes locking up. I used to work at a garage, I thought I was pretty knowledgable, especially on brakes. I checked everything out, and found no mechanical problems, but I also could not find sensors at the rear wheels or on axle. Please help !!!!![:@]
No, my rear brakes are drum brakes also. I've worked on these types before, and when the rear drums have anti-lock system, they usually have a sensor inside, or as part of the outside end of the axle. This has neither, and the owners manual says its a rear ABS, or 4 wheel ABS, does not say anything about just being on the front, so as I said, I'm lost. Also, there is no light or other indication that something is wrong.
By the way, thank you for the reply, I do appreciate it.

Thank you, i did find the sensor, but it seems to be ok. No dash light comes on either. I had thought every thing was fine, but when I went thru state inspection, they run it on a skid pad, and nail the brakes, then they get a computer read out. That is what is saying the rears are locking up. I took it apart, and every thing is in working order. I am at my witts end, not like thats a far trip. I guess now the only thing I can do is take it to a shop.
I also wanted to thank you guys for the replies. I am sorry I didn't get back sooner, a lot has been going on around here.

I don't know much about brakes, but if I remember, the whatchamacallit housing that controls the anti-lock braking is just near the main master brake cylinder under the hood. You may want to check that to make sure it is functioning? Just a guess.
