99Durango runs fine dies starts after an hour
This has been a great truck over 120k and never a real problem until about 2 months ago.
Died couple of times but would start right back up. thought I had the fix.
Was told to replace the camshaft sensor the one threw the belhousing.
Ran for 250 miles with no problem.
It died today and we left it for an hour and drove it home.
Anyone with a suggestions I would be grateful.
5.9 1999 Durango 120k runs great when running.
Have had no other problems other than heater core and funds to fill the gas tank.

Having the same problem with my '99. Dealer said that PCM failure is not a normal problem, but several messages referencing similar problems on this site note this problem was fixed by PCM (ECU) replacement This is an expensive guess - approximately $600 for a new PCM, $100 plus used. The dealer service rep. told me that PCM failure is rare in Durangos. Dealer suggested checking ground wires first. One post notes ground wire was his problem, apparently his car ran fine before he replaced front-end body parts. Another post notes that the idle air control sensor (IAC) may be dirty or need replacement. Good luck to us both.
I had a buddy that had an old bronco 2 that would do that and it ended up being a catalytic converter was clogged up. If your truck runs then dies after a while then you have to wait for a while to restart it this might be worth looking at. I'm not sure if you would get a check engine light on or not being that it's a newer vehicle but it's worth a shot.
That's definitely a possibility hydra. I almost forgot my coworker actually had a similar problem with her Intrepid. It ended up being a clog that would move in and out of the line after pressure in the tank was released it would start back up basically.
Never posted that her brother is a retired mechanic and supposed to be a very good one at that took him pulling the tank twice to find it though... first time he replaced the pump 2nd time he inspected the lines a lot more closely and lucky him it was right in the first place he looked from what I was told.

I am fighting a similar problem on a 99 5.9l with 209k on it... I am getting a CEL referring to the evap purge solenoid which I replaced along with the IAC solenoid. What happens is truck runs fine but on occasion just decides to go to a low idle and starts stumbling really bad; any throttle input and it clears up immediately... Now the strange part is when it is doing this I cannot put gas into the tank it acts like its full when the truck is running fine it fills no problem... So what would clog or close off when you hit the gas but not when at idle and be an intermittent thing??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
