Convert From a 4.7L to a 5.9L?
I have a Durango 2000 4.7L and the motor blew in it, and replacing it is very expensive. So i was going to convert it to the 5.9L but i want to know what do i have to do change over to the 5.9? I need to know each and every thing that i need to do to change over?

I came across another thread like this you just have to look around. It will take a lot though many electrical components are not the same from what I saw from that thread as well as other things.
just off the top of my head....engine n engine mounts. tranny n tranny mounts. engine wire harness. ecm n ecm wire harness. entire cooling system. maybe the transfer case if its a 4x4...more that im forgetting...but this will get you started.
jegs high performance has a 5.9 lt short block designed for 93-newer mpi part number 312-P5007549 $1339.00 you could go to a junk yard and take parts off a junk car most junk yards sell a used complete motor down to the harness for 1200
What blew in the motor? Is it rebuildable?
If you can pull the engine out and put it back in it shouldn't be that expensive (less than $2K if there aren't any holes in the block and cam/ crank/ and most of the pistons & rods are intact) to have the engine redone by a machine shop.

I agree you might be able to rebuild for cheeper.. pluss think about the other stuff you could do toyou motor after rebuilding it. you could put more money into other things for the motor if you save enough to rebuild......

$2500 sounds a little steep for a used motor tho. For probably a couple hundred more bucks you can buy a rebuild 4.7 from the dealer and then just basically do a engine swap? Dunno how much a brand new 4.7 will cost.
