Durango Shuts off while driving
i to have this issue with my durango it is a 2000 with the 5.9 auto 4x4 .... the ecu(computer) gets to hot ... u can just replace it or do as i did and buy a ten dollar fan from an auto parts store and place it on the heatsink of the ecu (computer) the computer is located on the passenger side fender well
its the plug going to te computer my durango started doing the same thing and while searching durango problems i found a forum where many other people was having the same problem all said their mechanic replaced computer and the prob. came back but someone said if you secure the plugs to computer it would fix it so i put a big band clamp to hold the plugs tight and my problem stopped.next time it stalls have someone crank it and move the connectors on the computer and i bet it will start
if you let it set and run with the hood up it will not get hot enough to check your problem also if wires have a bad connection, that will cause them to get hot

i had the same issues awhile back.. i tried everything, and finally replaced the computer, i believe it was only about 2-3 hundred for a refurb. one.. do a search on ebay, there was a place in florida, they will send you a new one,(just plug it in) that has been programmed for your truck., but you have to send them your old one after you replace it.
my durango does the same thing it never had any problems until this summer. The forums I have checked out said there would be "NO BUS" showing in the odom window, but I don't get that and every time it stops it act differently am out of ideas.
