Default '98 - A/C Compressor not kicking on

I have a 98 Durango.. my A/C compressor is not kicking on. I checked the fuse box under the dash and the one under the hood in front of the driver, but I could not find a fuse for the compressor (only a relay was in the fuse box under the hood). I swapped out the relay with another one just like it, and it appears to be functioning... is there a fuse for the compressor located somewhere?? HELP!! (please)

I don't know if the commpressor is dead... My first thought was to check the fuse for the compressor... so you can imagine my surprise when I looked in 2 fuse boxes and did not find a fuse for it. There has to be a fuse or fusible link or something... I mean, the compressor cannot be hardwired without some sort of failsafe, right?!?!?! That's why I posted.. I am hoping someone here either has experience regarding the '98 A/C compressor is knows it or whatever.

well according to the haynes manuel there should be a relay in the fuse box inside the engine bay which you allready found. Id check your Ac compressor clutch make sure shes working aswell.

A real common cause for the compressor to not come on , is low freon, or the low pressure cycling switch. You need to make sure you have a full charge. It could be electrical, but not as common.

Well, I charged the system up at the beginning of the summer... I thought I had sealed the leak (I used the 134a w/ sealer in it...) but maybe it is still a slow leak. I guess I can try to charge it up again to see if the compressor kicks on... I was hoping there was a fuse I was missing, but I will definitley give that a shot, maybe that'll fix it..

If you do have a slow leak, you need to get that leak fixed. Just recharging it over and over again will not help and there is a BIG possibility if the pressure ever drops to a vacuum state on the low side, and the leak is on the low side, the system will suck in contaminents from outside such as moisture and such. In time, you may actually ruin your whole A/C setup and may need a complete rebuild of the compressor, driers, coil, etc.
