I'll check my chilton's manual when I get home if you haven't gotten a reply by then.

This is out of my chiltons manual verbatim...
1. Remove the oil pan
2. remove the oil pump from the rear main bearing cap.
To install
3. Install while slowly rotating the pump body to ensure drive shaft engagement.
4. use a new gasket.
5. hold the pump base flush against the mating surface on the main bearing cap and tighten the bolts to 30 ft lbs.

That's it man now go buy a manual! 20 bucks for a chiltons or haynes (I've heard haynes is a lot more detailed with more pics) or you can ebay a disc that is even more detailed I hear. good luck let me know how that worked out for ya.

Ya missed one important step
step 6: install oil pan. torque the bolts to 17 ft. lbs (215 in. lbs, or 24 N*m)
Oh yea, don't forget to add oil.

I said "verbatim" didn't I dodge? That was it LOL I guess you have a Haynes huh? LOL I thought it was a given on the oil pan though I just didn't know how much to torque... It sounds like the shop is taking you for a ride unless the part is just that expensive. It looks fairly straight forward to me. Even though I've never done it it sounds like it is less than an hour and couldn't possibly be more than 2 hours. If you want a good idea on it call the stealership and ask them for a quote and how many hours of labor, then call another one and see if you get the same answer. They have books that tell them how long a job is supposed to take...

The first thing you should always do is get a manual.
