Revised MPG After Trans Build
When I first got my D back I had to baby it for 200 miles and then take it back for it's checkup. It passed with fling colors. On that tank I only averaged 11.4 MPG. Now I have about 600 miles on it and it has finally loosend up. I just got back from a trip and hear she goes.
Getting there I had stop and go traffic and freeway speeds sometimes. It took me 5 hours to go 170.7 miles and 11.409 Gal. = 14.968 MPG. With A/C on.
Comming back was a strait shot ranging between 85 to 75 MPH. Smaller milage though because of no short trips was 136.5 miles I used 8.303 Gal. = 16.439 MPG.
Same road and same ups and downs as were I went altitude was equal to my home. Remember 3.92 Gears and 5.9L. 31-10.5 15LT tires.
I was just jumpin for joy![sm=happy046.gif]

hydra you have to hear this.. I just took a trip to NM (farmington) and also went camping up near durango... (I will post some pics tomorrow) any ways I had 400 miles to the tank of the D driving to NM.. I didn't have to fill up tell I as almost in farmington.. that was an average of 19 miles to the gallon.. and I wasn't driving slow ether.. I was average about 75-80 mph... I was like DAMN I never heard of that before with a durango my year and engine... even better up in the mountains over 9,000 feet still was a great ride.. took ever trail I though at it..(even with my almost bald dumb tires(I know not smart)) and going up and down hills and climing and every thing with the high way milage I was averaging about 16.5 mpg with round trip of about 250 miles... :-)..... on the way home from farmington I had about 18.85 mpg and I know I was going hella fast because I averaged at lest about 85 the hole way home.. ( had to get to work and left to late.. lol..)... so I have to say I am WAY WAY happy with the few but meaning full mods I have done and it really has helped... ps.. next will be the good oll utah mountains like where you went.. .. oh yeah.. pics will come... I don't know why but I hear when you are at higher elevation you get better mileage. It makes no sense to me but when I lived at 7k feet I was getting about 30 mpg in my 3.0 taurus which is pretty good for a full sized car with that engine.
