jmcarmon you need to check the fuses in the PDC under the hood, the power outlet in the center console is powered by a fuse under the hood, if you shorted it out changes are that you blew that fuse.

When my wife charged her phone I assumed the charger caused a blown fuse. I checked all the fuses and they are all good. Has anyone ever replaced the actual cigarette socket? The outlet in the rear works fine. So I'm wondering if the actual socket needs to be replaced.

I only have 2 in there if looking at it i have the 1st and 3rd counting from the dash tword the firewall. What are theses 4 fuses and do they all have to be there? and how the heck do i get my cig lighter working. lol
I would try replacing the cigarette socket. I'm about to try this and see if this works. The part is $7.99 @ Auto Zone.

When you say you "checked" the fuses, how did you check them?? by looking at them or with a multimeter. It's very common that people just look at them and say there good because they look good when they really are not. I don't see how the plug itself could go bad considering its mostly metal.

Sorry to bump but in my 2001 Durango 4.7 I have the following:

Power Outlet in Dash Works
Cig Lighter No work
Center Console Power Outlet No Work
Rear Power Outlet No Work

I have checked and replaced the fuses in the dash and under the hood and still no joy. Can someone point to me the next step. It would be great to get all the outlets working before I head up north in November for hunting.

Check to see if you have power from the connector the outlet plugs into ... you could have some bad outlet parts.

What worked for me on my 2000 slt: Check the backside of the fuse panel in the driver's side. There's a coupla fuses there, and one runs the aux and the rear outlet. You gotta be some kinda contortionist to get an eyeball in there, though. Pretty much stick your face on the gas pedal, then turn left.
