Need info regarding PCM for 2000 Durango
This is my first time posting here, so forgive me if I sound ignorant regarding this issue.
I have a 2000 Durango that has been acting up for over a year now. When I first noticed the problem, it would idle erattically and the check engine light would come on. It would do this for a few days, then would be normal again. The dealer couldn't find any problems, so I drove it for a while. It then started idleing much higher, so had it checked out again. Of course, the check engine light went off as soon as the dealership mechanic started it up. They ran some tests and said the were't sure of the problem but said it needed a new fuel pump. I had a new pump put in and this took care of the problem for a few weeks. I took it in again yesterday, they ran some tests, and said I need a new PCM.
My questions are- If I would put a performance PCM in place of the faulty stock PCM, would this take care of the problem?
Would doing this create more problems?
Is this something I could do myself?
Does anybody have any better ideas or comments?
Should I trade this in on a new one since over the last month I have put $1200 worth of parts and labor into it in the last month alone?
Thanks to everybody who reads this!

RE: Need info regarding PCM for 2000 Durango
Before dumping any more $$$ into it, I would check TPS voltage and clean the IAC. These are both free to try out.
TPS (throttle position sensor):
-Using a multimeter, turn the key on (engine off) connect the + multimeter wire to the center wire on the TPS (this is located higher on the TB than the IAC). Optimal is near 0.7V, but anywhere 0.5V+ would be good. If it is too low, you may need a new sensor.
IAC (idle air control):
-Remove 2 Torx screws (T-25 bits) and pull out. Using carb/throttle body cleaner, clean the IAC motor. There will be a lot of carbon build-up on it. Reinstall with o-ring.
