Now I like headers but:
1. They increase temp under the hood which creates problems with wire cracking.
2. I've seen problems with heat related spark plug wire boot problems.
3. I've also seen drops in torque although increases in HP.
4. It seems the spark plugs get fouled easier.

As for the spark plug wire boots... MSD's are the only way to go. I yanked out my shields from the head and never had 1 boot problem while using the MSD's.
If you go too big on the primaries on the headers, you will loose torque. the gibsons I used were an awesome set, the only gripe being that when I was installing them the 2nd to the last bolt on both sides (near the firewall) was a bitch to install. you need an open end 7/16 wrench to do it.
On the newer motors, plug fouling is eliminated.
