Default Transmission Shift Points

Is the transmission designed not to shift if the rpm's are too high?

Welcome.

It is called the rev limiter. It will make your trany shift up after it hits a certin point. I beleive it is 4700 RPM OEM

Why?[>:]

I have the B&G flash, if I floor it from stopped it'll go to 5500 rpm and shift. If I keep the peddle to the floor, it'll go to 5500 rpm and not shift until I release the peddle. I don't have to release the peddle alot, during normal driving the shifting good.

What is the B&G flash. A trans software upgrade? What all does it change?

B&G is a company that flashs your PCM. It changes your shift points and alters your motor for opt. power.
Just another company.[>:]

Check it out. http://www.bgchrysler.com/

My tranny was doing that for a while. If I floor it and keep it floored, the tranny won't shift, it just revvs until it hits the rev limiter and that's it. I have to release the gas pedal to get it to shift. I replaced both speed and trans sensors and flushed the tranny again and it seem to help but the problem still comes back every once in a while. Then I took it to the dealer to have the tranny serviced by readjusting the bands, etc... I guess I needed the tranny service anyways as my D was running at 70K plus miles. Since the tranny service, so far, the problem never resurfaced. It will change gear when it is supposed to.

The tranny service costed me about $119 bucks from the dealer.
