Default DTC - "pnone"

Check engine light while waiting in traffic with A/C on yesterday. All fluids are full, not overheating, shifts perfect, idles and runs perfect. Any ideas???

Why would the light come on without a code??? How would the dealer know what is wrong??? Stumped.

Any Dodge mechanics out there willing to guess?

Did you have someone read the code, like Auto Zone , or did you do the ignition thing? Did you just fill the tank? On our "01, the check engine light keeps coming on, but it is a 455 code. I Would take it to Auto Zone or someone that you know that can read the code from the computer. If it still shows no code, clear it and keep an eye on it and note what the truck is doing when it comes on. Sorry, that is the extent of my knowledge.

TSB# 25-001-01
Generic Scan tools unable to read all codes
There is a PCM flash to correct it
The flash is covered under the 8/80 emissions warr
If the light comes on..... there IS a code!!!

Gas cap is tight, had not filled recently. DTC was not read with a scan tool. I cycled the key to the on position three times and the code appeared. I guess I'll reset the PCM and see if the engine light comes on again. If it does and I still get "pnone" what are my choices? A dealership trip?

Thanks for the responses guys!

Unfortunately, that is probobly what is next. Mine goes in for the 4th time on Monday with the same error. JCswm would probably have better answers since he fixes them. Jim

Heres a little trick: click the key off and on three times on the third time leave the ignition on. Where the odometer is there will be a few numbers that come up starting with the letter P i.e. P0452.... You probrably have already done it but if not try it. The other thing you can try is with the ignition off press the odometer reset button and hold it in, turn the key on then let go of the button... The guage cluster will go thru a series of tests as well as the engine computer. read what those codes are as well....

Good luck

Yes, that's how I got the "Pnone" from cycling the key three times. I ended up resetting the PCM and since then have had no check engine light come on. I think it's kinda weird to have the light come on and not throw a code out beside this "pnone" verbiage.

I'll try the gauge reset too and see if anything comes up, thanks!
