Default RT vs. SLT

Ok so whats the differance?
I have an 00 SLT 5.9 but at work the other day i drove an 01 RT much nicer then mine. The seats dash set up everything. Is there a differance in performance or just looks....and if so what?

Reilly the R/T is just slightly better in some respects to our SLT's. First off the interior was redesigned in the 01-03 models that's where the difference comes from there. Other than that there are R/T heads, Bilstein shocks (Lower ride height with those), more aggressive computer tune, and AWD was the only option in transfer cases in the R/T's. There is different badging (duh), R/T stitched in the leather, and larger wheels(Is that all guys?). I Like my SLT better than I would like the R/T for the simple fact that I can smoke my tires if I want, I save a little bit more gas, and I like to wheel so I need my ride height higher than the R/T offers and I have 4Low which allows me to go through some tougher situations that 4HI or AWD would allow.

The '01 R/T is basically marketing, nothing of real performance after '00.

Like mentioned above, the interiors are different due to a redesign in '01 over the '00.

As for the R/T heads, Bilstein shocks... neither are on the Durango as stock. R/T heads are Mopar aftermarket and the Bils are factory on the Ram SRT10s but a common upgrade by Durango owners.

To clarify, prior to '01 the Durango R/T had a different program in the PCM giving it 10 extra HP and requiring premium fuel. After '01 the Durango R/T was just marketing. The 'extras' on the R/T in terms of performance were the same as in the SLT+. Only R/T seats, chrome rims and maybe a slightly stiffer suspension seperated the two. R/Ts were AWD while SLTs had the option of 2, 4 or AWD in the SLT+.

Heads known as "R/T Heads" were never in any Durango from the factory (Shelby Durango's excluded since they had all kinds of extra stuff added but not at the factory.)

Hmmm... I thought R/T heads were standard on the R/T. Glad I got my SLT+.

Cool so now I dont fell bad about my D....I just really liked the interior on the RT. That was really about it. Yeh I wasnt too thrilled about the AWD. I like lighting up parking lots to much to give my rear wd up.

Yeah and if you would've gotten a 01 or newer slt you would have the much more stylish interior. I wish I had it too but then I'd have to give up my floor shifter for the 4wd and I hate the idea of taking something that works far better and replacing it with another electronic component that will need to be fixed.

Yeah I had the opportunity to get an 01 but it had 60k miles (my 00 had under 30k) they wanted about $2000 more and the overhead dvd player was pulled out so it had a huge hole in the roof...
