Default Code PO441

My 2001 durango has been in the shop about 6 times in 6 months. the new code is PO441. they say they have no clue what it is from. we have replaced the gas cap, purge flow monitor and a hose only to have the light come on a week and half after it is turned off. it is $80 a hour to find out what the problem is. any one have this same issue??

It's P0441 not PO441 (zero, not "O")

The translation is slightly different for each model. For the 2003 it means "evap purge system performance". Start there with the tech at the dealership since it should be something close to that. They are looking for a "leak detection pump" near or under the battery.

On the generic list of codes here at DF.com nicely posted by Hydrashocker, it says, "P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow"

I think that part is what we just replace 2 weeks ago. i can take a pic and post it if that helps. the dealer says that code reads reverse flow for emissions

Post the pic if you have time. Unhook your negative battery cable and leave it for about 45 seconds then reattach the cable back to the battery. This should clear the computer. Let it idle for a couple of minutes the turn it off. Restart the truck and drive it for 50 miles and let the computer reset it's self to the trucks imputes. I have also heard that touching the negative to the positive (unhooked form the battery of course) will reset hard codes from the computer on some years but I am unsure on what years and or if it really works. Probly not a good idea though.

I don't know that I would touch any battery terminals together for fear of shorting something out and that could be costly. Plus, if you have the issue, then resetting the PCM isn't going to help. It will just have the truck run differently as the PCM needs to relearn your particulars. If you want to clear the code, go to an AutoZone and they will come out and check it and clear it for you if you ask them to.

True. The reason I said to unhook the battery was for the truck to relearn the whole system. Maybe there is some other problem that keeps triggering it and doing that will show that there is in fact a problem. I don't like just having the computer cleared when the problem keeps coming up after having it was just cleared.

we figured out the problems. there was a hose split and leaking vapors. as well as the dumb butt who put on the last part got the hoses on backwards
