new to the dodge family need help
Hi I just bought a 2000 durango with 74000 miles on it and i was gonna trade it in, in about a year and i was wondering if it would be smart to put a new exhaust system and headers and a cold air intake into it? can anone help me plz
First of all, welcome aboard. A new exhaust system wouldnt hurt, but I wouldnt go so far as headers and cold air intake, especially if there is a reasonable expectation of trading it in, the next owner might not care for it. As for the exhaust, It is tough to say, if you arent getting warning lights/check engine or emissions lights, then I say leave it alone. If you are replacing I would say replace only behind the CAT converter. If you are going to replace though, might as well do it now and get some of your moneys worth out of it. The trade in value might not be increased as much as you think, since it is expected to have a working exhaust system. I think you would get better reasle value with new set of shoes (TIRES) tuneup, oil/lube/fliter/trans flush, alignment. but thats just my .02 cents. I went through the same dilemma when by the Haynes manual the emissions light was supposed to come onat 82K MILES.As of MAY 2006 when I finally returned the sensor and approx 104k miles the Emisssions/check engine light never did come on.
As Magic84 said, I too would think your wasting your money if your going to sell it, Your not going to gain anything in resale and not going to increase any mileage to offset the cost. Put the money towards your new truck,
